Industrial gutter lining for leaking and failing gutters
Leaking gutters can become a persistent problem on industrial and commercial buildings. Corroded sections, failed joints, ageing seals and previous patch repairs can result in repeated water ingress, potentially affecting stock, machinery, internal areas and day-to-day operations.
Where the existing gutter network is suitable for refurbishment, industrial gutter lining provides an alternative to complete replacement. A new lining system is installed within the existing gutter, avoiding the need to remove the entire gutter network and reducing the amount of associated work around the roof.
Servos installs the Plygene Gutterline system for factories, warehouses, industrial units and commercial properties across North Wales, the North West and throughout the UK. Every project begins with a site survey to assess the condition and configuration of the existing gutter network and determine whether gutter lining is an appropriate solution.
- 25-year HD Sharman guarantee – Backed by the manufacturer’s guarantee following approved installation and certification.
- HD Sharman Approved Installers – Installed by Servos operatives trained and approved to work with the Plygene® Gutterline system.
- Minimal Building Disruption – Refurbish suitable existing gutters without removing the complete gutter network.
- Bespoke Gutter Lining System – Designed around the profile and configuration of your existing industrial gutters.
- Commercial & Industrial Applications – Suitable for a wide range of commercial and industrial gutter networks.
- UK-Wide Service – Industrial gutter lining projects undertaken across North Wales, the North West and throughout the UK.
What is Plygene Gutterline?
Plygene® Gutterline is a specialist industrial and commercial gutter lining system developed by HD Sharman. Rather than removing the existing gutter, a durable thermoplastic liner is manufactured to suit its profile and installed within it, effectively creating a new gutter within the existing gutter.
The system incorporates the Plygene liner alongside specified fixings, drainage components and bespoke network components for outlets, corners, junctions, stop ends and other details. The liner is mechanically fixed and the relevant components are incorporated into the completed system. As a non-bonded system, the liner is designed to move independently of the existing gutter.
HD Sharman states that Plygene has been used within the commercial roofing sector since 1985 and identifies Plygene Gutterline as the only BBA-certified gutter lining system specifically for the gutter environment.
For businesses experiencing repeated gutter leaks, corrosion or failed joints, the system can provide a long-term refurbishment option without requiring the existing gutter network to be completely removed.
Why line industrial gutters rather than replace them?
Where an existing industrial gutter is suitable for refurbishment, lining can avoid the need to remove the complete gutter system and undertake the associated roof-edge work. This can make it particularly suitable for large factories, warehouses and operational commercial buildings where extensive replacement work could cause unnecessary disruption.
25-year HD Sharman guarantee
When Plygene Gutterline is installed by an approved contractor and inspected and certified in accordance with HD Sharman’s requirements, the waterproof membrane is backed by a 25-year HD Sharman guarantee.
Less disruption
The liner is installed within the existing gutter rather than requiring the complete gutter network to be removed. This can reduce disruption around an occupied factory, warehouse or commercial building.
Bespoke gutter lining
Plygene is designed around the existing gutter network rather than being supplied as a single standard size. The system can accommodate different gutter widths, lengths, profiles and configurations.
Non-bonded system
The thermoplastic liner is mechanically installed rather than fully bonded to the existing gutter substrate, allowing the liner to move independently from the host gutter.
Suitable for complex gutter networks
Purpose-made system components can be incorporated around outlets, corners, junctions, stop ends and other details found within complex industrial gutter networks.
Reduced replacement work
Retaining a suitable existing gutter reduces the amount of removal and replacement required compared with completely stripping out the gutter network.
Signs your industrial gutters may need lining
Problems with industrial gutters are not always limited to a single obvious leak. Long gutter runs can contain numerous joints, outlets and previous repair points, meaning repeated local repairs may not address deterioration elsewhere within the system.
Signs that it may be time to arrange an industrial gutter survey include:
- Water leaking into the building during or after rainfall
- Damp patches or staining beneath internal gutter runs
- Corrosion or deterioration within metal gutters
- Failed gutter joints, seals or bolted laps
- Standing water within gutter runs
- Recurring leaks affecting stock, machinery or operational areas
- Older gutter systems where complete replacement would cause significant disruption
If your building is experiencing any of these problems, Servos can inspect the gutter network and determine whether industrial gutter lining is suitable. We assess the existing condition before recommending the appropriate course of action.

Our industrial gutter lining process
1. Free site survey
Every project starts with an assessment of the existing gutter network. We inspect and measure the gutter runs, assess their condition and configuration and document relevant defects. Photographs and, where useful, drone imagery can also be used to record the existing system.
2. Specification and quotation
Once the survey has established that gutter lining is suitable, we can specify the required system and provide a clear quotation based on the measured gutter runs and components required.
3. Gutter preparation
The existing gutters must be properly cleared and prepared before the liner is installed. Servos already provides specialist commercial gutter cleaning, allowing the preparation work and lining installation to be managed by the same team.
4. Plygene Gutterline installation
The Plygene thermoplastic liner is installed by our trained and approved operatives. The liner is fitted to the existing gutter profile, with the appropriate system components incorporated around outlets, corners, stop ends and other gutter details.
5. Inspection and certification
Once installation is complete, the work is inspected in accordance with HD Sharman’s requirements. Following the appropriate inspection and certification process, the applicable 25-year HD Sharman guarantee is issued.
6. Ongoing gutter maintenance
Servos can continue to provide planned commercial gutter cleaning and maintenance following installation, helping keep outlets and drainage routes clear
HD Sharman approved Plygene installers
Plygene Gutterline is installed through HD Sharman’s Approved Contractor Network. Servos operatives have undertaken specialist training at HD Sharman’s training centre and install the system in accordance with the manufacturer’s prescribed installation process and 12 Golden Rules of Installation.
For facilities managers, property managers and businesses, this provides the reassurance of using an approved contractor while also allowing multiple stages of the project to be handled by Servos. Our team can survey the existing gutters, carry out the necessary cleaning and preparation, install the Plygene system and provide ongoing commercial gutter maintenance.

Gutter lining for different roof and gutter systems
No two industrial gutter networks are exactly the same. Buildings can have different gutter materials, dimensions, outlet positions and configurations, particularly where sites have been extended or altered over many years.
Plygene Gutterline is designed as a bespoke system rather than an off-the-shelf liner. The HD Sharman system can be specified for a range of existing substrates and gutter arrangements, including steel, cast iron, aluminium, concrete, fibre cement and wood, with specific solutions also available for certain asbestos gutter configurations.
The suitability of the existing gutter and the required installation specification are established during the initial site survey.
Commercial gutter cleaning and industrial gutter lining
Cleaning and lining solve different gutter problems, but the two services work closely together.
Commercial gutter cleaning removes accumulated leaves, moss, silt and other debris to help keep gutters and outlets clear. However, if a gutter continues to leak because of corrosion, deteriorated joints or previous failed repairs, cleaning alone cannot resolve the underlying defect.
In these situations, industrial gutter lining may provide the next step. Every Plygene installation requires the existing gutter to be properly cleared and prepared, and Servos can complete this preparation in-house through our commercial gutter cleaning service.
This means you can use one contractor for the initial survey, gutter cleaning and preparation, Plygene installation and ongoing gutter maintenance.
